Redruth Main Bus Stop and the Train Station on the main London to Penzance Line are just a 5 minute walk away. From here you are just a short hop away from Truro, Penzance, St Ives, Falmouth, Helston, the Eden Project, Lands End and many other Cornish Attractions.
If you are interested in Cornish History or are trying to trace your Cornish Ancestors you might like to visit the Cornish Studies Library, Cornwall's largest library of Cornish printed and published items, that contains a wide range of resources for everyone's use, just down the road on Alma Place. Other places of interest in Redruth include the house of William Murdoch, born 1754, inventor of gas lighting, Cornish Mines and Engines Discovery Centre and the Tregellas Tapestry at Alma Place.
For the business visitor Lansdowne is an ideal base being in close proximity to the industrial areas at Cardrew, Treleigh, Pool and Camborne.
If a beach is what you are looking for, then you'll be spoilt for choice as Redruth is just 4 miles from the Rugged North Atlantic Coast and 9 miles from the South Cornish Coast. The closest beaches on the North Coast are Portreath and Porthtowan, both are just a 5 minute drive or a short bus ride away, they are both popular with families and surfers alike and both are patrolled by Lifeguards during the peak season. For a dog friendly beach head to Perranporth, with its long beach and sand dunes, you may recognise it from BBC1s Seaside Rescue.

If you want to go a bit further afield, why not try Marazion in the spectacular Mounts Bay, with its causeway out to St Michaels Mount, or Porthcurno near Lands End. Not forgetting Sennen Cove and the fabulous Carbis bay near St Ives.
The South West Coastal Path follows some of the most spectacular coastal walks found in the British Isles, with fantastic scenery, rugged cliffs and secluded smugglers coves.
The area boasts a whole network of approximately 60km of activity trails, including the Great Flat Lode Trails around the local historical mining sites. The nearby Coast to Coast Mineral Tramway is an ideal way to explore this part of Cornwall for Walkers and Cyclists alike, as it travels from Portreath on the North Coast through the Central Mining District of the county to Devoran the South Coast, a journey of 17.5 km.
